New Start, End Times For Some Manchester Schools In 2019-20

The 2019-20 Manchester public school calendar is revised and ready.

MANCHESTER, CT — Post-Labor Day first days of school and new start and end times for some schools are highlights of the 2019-20 academic calendar for the Manchester public school system.

Classes resume after Labor Day, with students in grades K through 5, Grade 7 and Grade 9 reporting on Tuesday, Sept. 3.

Students at Bennet, Illing and Manchester High School (those in in grades 6, 8 and 10 through 12) have one extra day of vacation and come back on Wednesday, Sept. 4.

Regarding the Verplanck building, Superintrndent of Schools Matthew Geary said, "We are excited about the reopening of Verplanck Elementary School and have tentatively scheduled the official ribbon-cutting for Saturday, Sept. 28. We will have details about that event soon but can tell you that we plan to have the building open for a few hours following the ribbon-cutting so that people from throughout the community will have a chance to tour the renovated building."

The last day of school is projected for June 15, but a proposed graduation date has not been posted.
