“Not All Mortgage Services Firms are Created Equal”

I closed a mortgage in August and the first mortgage payment was due Oct. 1st. The mortgage was immediately assigned to Cenlar, which is very common with many lenders.

I got a call from the original lender asking me to communicate with my client to find out why they didn’t make their first mortgage payment on time. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing.

I immediately called and Lisa asked me if this was a joke. She actually knew that I wouldn’t be joking about this topic. She immediately went online and emailed me a copy of the check that showed the payment being made on Oct 1st.

I sent a copy of the check to the lender and demanded an explanation. They said this happens from time to time with servicing companies. I told him I wanted a letter of apology for the client from them and Cenlar. He knew I wasn’t kidding and told me he would handle it.

I called Lisa back and apologized to her for getting her upset and told her to let me know once she got the letters of apology from both companies. Neither company made me look very good, so they better follow through with the letters. I hate incompetence.
