One of the Worst Home Inspections I have Ever Seen

The entire report was one page, hand written and NO real information, no photos, no nothing. Based on what the buyers told me, the home needed some work, but they were going to do this work once they owned the property.

They told me that their real estate agent had recommended an inspector that wouldn’t make a big deal out of work that they would be doing in the future. I asked if they didn’t feel they should get someone reliable to make sure what they might not being seeing. NO, we don’t care, we want the home and it doesn’t matter to us.

The appraisal mentioned a few things that should be repaired, holes in some of the ceilings, holes in some walls and for good measure a hole in one of the floors. These buyers got permission to have a repair person go in and do some of these repairs, just what the appraiser mentioned. We had the appraiser go back to re-inspect the items mention so that the lender would be OK with lending on the home.

Sure, once the closing happens, the two real estate agents get paid and everyone else in the transaction gets paid, including me, these buyers will now own a home that will need many future repairs. Who knows what they didn’t see.

Without the safeguards of a good home inspection, folks may end up with expenses that far exceed their expectation.
