People's United Logo Change Official Inside United Bank Branches

United Bank customers are now being greeted with the People's United Bank logos inside branches.

MANCHESTER, CT — United Bank customers were greeted with the People's United Bank logos inside branches as they conducted buisness at the end of last week and beginning of this week.

The official branding changeover took place inside branches Friday, tellers said.

All United Bank forms were replaced with those bearing the People's United Bank logo. A welcome sign alerting customers of the changeover was also posted inside branches.

People's United Financial, Inc., the holding company for People's United Bank, announced In July an agreement to acquire United Financial Bancorp, the holding company for United Bank, in a 100 percent stock transaction valued at about $759 million.

United Bank was the former Rockville Bank. United-Rockville's roots can be traced back to 1858. It has been headquartered in Vernon, South Windsor, Glastobury and Hartford. United Bank has $7.3 billion in assets, according to officials.

No official word on the fate of branch redundancies has been released. United Bank had nearly 60 branch locations concentrated in Central Connecticut and Western Massachusetts to its name, offering commercial, small business, wealth management and consumer banking products and services.

Tellers were handing out refrigerator magnets on Monday promoting People's United being "open on days that end in Y," a reference to United customers now having access to branches inside Stop & Shop supermarkets.
