Plan Calls for Closer Fire Department Ties in Manchester

The fire departments in Manchester have released a new strategic plan.

MANCHESTER, CT — The Manchester Fire Department, rescue and EMS crews and the Eighth Utilities District department would be working closer together, according to a strategic plan released on Tuesday.

The goal, according to an accompanying statement, is to "identify ways to work together to provide the highest level of service and the quickest and most effective response to the entire community.”

One change would be firefighters closest to the scene of a fire or crash being dispatched first. Training and policies would be streamlined for consistency, according to the plan.
