Police ID Manchester Man Involved in Fatal Boating Accident
DEEP officials have identified both men involved in the tragic boating accident on Sunday afternoon.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Manchester resident was among the two men involved in the fatal boating accident on Candlewood Lake this weekend.
State Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP) Environmental Conservation (EnCon) Police have identified Gary Hayes, 48, of East Hartford, as the man killed when a 17 foot motorboat capsized on Sunday shortly after noon. He was pronounced deceased after being transported to Danbury Hospital.
A second man, Joseph Miranda, 29, of Manchester, swam to shore and refused medical treatment.
