Driver Seriously Hurt As 'Slingshot' Vehicle Crashes In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police and a regional investigation team were on Wetherell Street Tuesday afternoon to investigate a serious vehicle crash involving a "slingshot vehicle."

The crash took place at 10:38 a.m.

Wetherell Street, from Bidwell Street to Cougar Drive, was closed while Manchester police and Metro Traffic Services were at the scene investigating. Investigators were there "for an extended period of time," police said.

Police said a "slingshot" style vehicle was being operated by a 36-year-old man from Manchester. It was traveling westbound on Wetherell Street when it collided with a utility pole, police said.

The operator of the vehicle was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was in critical condition Tuesday afternoon.
