On Aug. 17-18, not only was Pratt & Whitney a silver sponsor of Riverfront Dragon Boat Races on the Connecticut River in Hartford, they also registered two teams for the Community Races, which were comprised of over 40 Pratt & Whitney employees. Another group of Pratt & Whitney volunteers manned the team tents.
A record number of 93 teams – a 33-percent increase over last year - and more than 3,000 paddlers competed overall during the two days in the colorful races on the Connecticut River. The teams included out-of-state groups from New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Vermont and Rhode Island. Pratt & Whitney was among the gold winners.
