Pratt Gets Low-Flying Visitor

EAST HARTFORD, CT — Aerospace engine giant Pratt & Whitney had a low-flying visitor on Friday.

It was the state-of-the-art Mitsubishi Regional Jet on its maiden voyage to Connecticut. A flyover near East Hartford-based Pratt was "in honor of the thousands of Pratt & Whitney and UTC Aerospace Systems employees who contributed to making the groundbreaking innovation a reality," Pratt officials said.

Mitsubishi was the initial customer for Pratt & Whitney's new Geared Turbofan engine and the aircraft also has more than a dozen major systems on board supplied by UTC Aerospace systems.

UTC Aerospace and Pratt are divisions of Hartford-based United Technologies Corp.

The plane was visiting Connecticut after being showcased at the Paris Air Show, the largest airshow in the world. It flew low over Pratt's East Hartford plant and then landed at Bradley International Airport.
