UPDATE: Searchers Pull Body of Teenage Woman from Union Pond
Divers were in the water this afternoon, according to reports. The woman's purse was found next to her radio, still playing, a report said.

Update 10:06 a.m., Thursday:
The family of a teenager told Manchester police that their daughter was very despondent, appeared to be ready to commit suicide and told family members she was headed toward Union Pond, according to a report on WNTH-TV.
The television report, relying on statements from police and fire officials, said that the call came in shortly before 3 p.m. Wednesday. A search began and the body of the teenager was found in about 15 feet of water, according to Manchester Fire Chief Ronald Russo.

The WNTH report gave the woman’s age as 18. Other reports have given it as 19. Numerous small inconsistencies between various reports have appeared in news coverage of this story.

Manchester firefighters searching Union Pond found the body of an 18-year-old woman who had made despondent statements to family members and then left her purse and a radio on the shore, according to news reports.
The name of the local woman was not released immediately because not all family members had been notified by early Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The woman’s body was found in water 20 feet deep, about 10 feet from shore near the spillway of the pond, according to the Hartford Courant. Police don’t suspect a murder, the newspaper reported.
Update 4:44 p.m.:
Authorities have said the missing woman is 19 years old and add that her disapperance is “suspicious,” according to WFSB-TV.
Update 4:40 p.m.:
A woman’s radio was found playing, her purse nearby, near Union Pond on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report in the Hartford Courant — a report much revised after an initial report of a missing girl.
Several divers were in the pond and other firefighters and rescuers were in boats on the pond, the newspaper reported.
The purse and radio were found on a rock near a dam at the pond, according to the report. (WFSB-TV reported that an iPod was found by the purse.)
Update, at 4:16 p.m.:
Manchester police and firefighters are searching for a missing girl (according to one report) or a woman (according to another) around Union Pond on Wednesday afternoon.
A girl is missing, the Hartford Courant reports. But WFSB-TV reports that a woman’s purse and iPod were found near the pond and police and firefighters at the scene were searching for her.
Police were releasing few details, according to the Courant’s report, but said a dive team is on standby, although they weren’t sure the girl was in the pond. They haven’t been able to find her elsewhere
