Road Resurfacing Project Set To Begin For Manchester I-84 Ramps
The Connecticut Department t of Transportation has announced start times for some major work in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, CT — The Connecticut Department of Transportation this week announced that a milling and resurfacing project on ramps along Interstate 84 in Manchester is set to begin next week.
The DOT Project — officially No. 01710456CN “N” — consists of the milling and resurfacing of several ramps:
- I-84 East, Exit 60 to US 44
- On Ramp US 44 to I-84 East
- Exit 62 to Buckland Street
- Buckland Street to I-84 East
- HOV ramp to Buckland Street, I-84 East
- Westbound HOV ramp from Buckland Street
- I-84 West Exit 59
- I-84 West Exit 60 to Route 44
- Route 44 on ramp to I-84 West
- I-384 to I-291 East
Milling is scheduled to begin on July 7 and work should last until July 18, DOT officials said 2022. Rafferty Fine Grading is the contractor.

The resurfacing is slated to run from July 24 to Aug. 5. The contractor is American Industries.
The ramps are scheduled to close anytime between July 7, and Aug. 5, DOT officials said.

- Exit 62 eastbound Ramp to Buckland St. - Detour to Exit 63.
- Exit 62 I-84 eastbound on ramp - Those traveling north on Buckland Street can take a right onto Buckland Hills Dr. and follow it as it changes to Hale Road, then take right onto Route 30 (Deming Street). Those traveling south on Buckland Street can take a left onto Tolland Turnpike then take next left to stay on Tolland Turnpike to Route 30 (Deming Street) and take a right to the I-84 eastbound on-ramp.
- HOV to Buckland Street Off-Ramp - Detour to Exit 63.
- HOV from Buckland St. (On Ramp) - Detour = North on Buckland St. to take left onto Pleasant Valley Road to I-84 On ramp
- Exit 59 westbound (off Ramp) - Detour = to Exit 58 to left on Roberts Street to right back onto I-84 eastbound (Exit 59 to I-384)
- Access from Route 44 eastbound on ramp - Detour = to I-84 eastbound on ramp to Exit 62 to Buckland St. Exit to I-84 westbound on ramp
- Access from Route 44 westbound on ramp - Detour = Take US 44 westbound to East Hartford to Burnside Ave. to Main St. to right onto Connecticut Blvd. to I-84 westbound on ramp
- Exit 60 westbound to US 44 - Detour to Exit 58, then left on Roberts Street to right back onto I-84 eastbound to Exit 60 to US 44.
- Exit 60 eastbound to US 44 - Detour, Exit 62 to the Buckland Street Exit to the I-84 westbound on-ramp (Exit 60) to US 44.
- US 44 to I-84 eastbound On Ramp - Detour to I-84 westbound to Exit 58 (Roberts Street) then left on Roberts Street to the I-84 eastbound-on ramp.
- I-291 eastbound - Detour to I-384 eastbound to Exit 1 (Spencer Street) then take left off the ramp and a left onto Cemetery Road and the on-ramp.
The work schedule for the project is Sundays through Thursdays from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Traffic control personnel and signing patterns will be in place to guide motorists through the work zones.
Modifications or extensions to the schedule may become necessary with bad weather or other "unforeseen conditions," DOT officials said.
