Serious Crash Closes Route 83 Near Manchester-Vernon Line

VERNON/MANCHESTER, CT — A multi-car crash closed a section of Route 83 near the Vernon-Manchester line for about 90 minutes on Monday.

Police said three vehicle were involved in the crash, which took place at about 9:25 a.m.

Three people were taken to the hospital, police said.

The road was closed while police and firefighters cleaned up the scene, police said. The road ready to be re-opened at about 11 a.m., police said. The exact cause is still under investigation.

The crash took place near 24 Hartford Turnpike — the local address for Suburban Subaru. There are several auto dealerships and other commercial establishments on the stretch of Route 83. It runs concurrently with Route 30 until Vernon Circle.
