Sex Assault With a Minor Charge Filed Against Manchester Resident

The charge stems from a complaint about illegal sexual contact with a minor, according to police.

MANCHESER, CT — A Manchester resident was arrested Monday on a warrant charging him with sexual assault and related crimes, stemming from alleged illegal sexual activity with a minor last summer.

William Watson, 54, a longtime Enfield resident who now lives in Manchester, was taken into custody by Manchester police Monday afternoon and turned over to Enfield detectives. He is charged with fourth-degree sexual assault, risk of injury to a child and illegal sexual contact with a victim under age 16.

He was released shortly before 6 a.m. Tuesday after posting a $100,000 surety bond, Enfield Police Chief Alaric Fox said.

Fox said the incident leading to Watson's arrest occurred at 4:57 p.m. on July 21, 2018. The warrant supporting his arrest is sealed for 14 days, so no further information was immediately available.
