Sobriety Checkpoint on Tap for Manchester

Police will be out on Friday into Saturday ... see where they will be.

MANCHESTER, CT — Manchester police have scheduled a sobriety checkpoint on Friday night into early Saturday morning in a busy section of town.

The checkpoint is a combined effort between Manchester police and Metro Traffic Services and is slated to begin at 8 p.m. and run until to 2 a.m. on Deming Street between Tolland Turnpike and Avery Street.

The checkpoint is being funded by grants from the National Highway Transportation and Safety Administration and the state Department of Transportation's DUI enforcement grant program.

Police said that officers will not only be looking for impaired drivers, but those not wearing seatbelts and distracted drivers as well.
