“Social Media and the Mortgage Business”

Bank referrals are a normal course of my mortgage practice. Being in business as long as we have and having a good reputation certainly doesn’t hurt.
Surprisingly, many bankers and loan officers have told me they read my blogs from time to time. Many have told me, they don’t see me as a competitor or threat, rather an alternative for clients they can’t service.

Such was the case with a referral from a loan officer from a MA bank, who I had never interacted with before. The client needed to refinance a home, but didn’t have a credit score that they could not do, he had a 602 mid score, but based on previous blogs knew that I could.

The LO sent me an email explaining the situation and contact information of the client, but prior to contacting this referral I wanted to speak to the LO. Once I had him on the phone, I was impressed and understood, he really “GETS IT”. We spent about 15 minutes getting to know one another and could see myself referring business to him as well.

I spoke to the client, set up an appointment to get together next week and my takeaway continues to be, social media and my blogging efforts continues to produce results.
