State Petition Filed To Close Manchester Care Facility
A filing cites financial woes at a Manchester Care Facility.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Manchester nursing home has filed a petition to close with the Connecticut Department of Social Services.
Athena Health Care Systems is citing costs as the reason to shut down Crestfield Rehabilitation Center and Fenwood Manor. The facility is located at 565 Vernon St. in Manchester. The announcement was made Monday.

At the time, Larry Santilli, Athena’s founder and president, called the purchase "an excellent addition to Athena's portfolio."
"Crestfield Rehab and Fenwood Manor have enjoyed a long and very positive relationship with the greater Manchester," he added.
Santilli said at the time that $3.5 million in renovations and upgrades to the skilled nursing center were in the works.
