State Police ID Man Killed in Saturday Highway Crash in Manchester
The man was killed after the car rolled over several times, state police said.

MANCHESTER, CT — State police have identified the driver killed in a rollover crash on Interstate-83 Saturday as a 29-year-old man from Danbury.
According to a state police accident report, Julio Ortega, 29, of Stevens Street, Danbury was pronounced dead at the scene of the 9:44 a.m. crash.
State police said that a 2016 Nissan Maxima driven by Ortega was heading eastbound on I-84 in the right lane, just prior to Exit 61 in Manchester. He was the sole occupant of the car and was wearing a seat belt, state police said.

For an undetermined reason, the car suddenly veered to the left, traveled onto a grassy area off the left shoulder and crashed into a rocky embankment, according to a state police accident report.
The car rolled over several times, state police said.

The crash is still being investigated and any witnesses are being asked to call the state police Troop H barracks at 860-534-1000.
