The investigation involved the Manchester Police Department, the Manchester Public Schools Administration, and the Connecticut Department of Children and Families.
A warrant was secured and Gray, a Hartford resident, surrendered at Manchester police headquarters on Tuesday, police said.
Gray was charged with three counts of second-degree breach of peace and three counts of risk of injury to a minor.
Gray has been issued a court date of Wednesday in Hartford.
This is an ongoing investigation. "We urge anyone with additional information, to contact the Manchester Police Department," police said.
Manchester Superintendent of Schools Matt Gary released a statement following Gray's arrest.
It said:
"The Manchester Police today informed us that they have arrested an Illing Middle School teacher. The teacher has been charged with Breach of Peace 2 (3 counts) and Risk of Injury to a Minor (3 counts).
"In February, three students reported their concerns to school administration. The students indicated that the teacher made them uncomfortable with inappropriate comments and by touching/rubbing their shoulders while in class. School administration immediately notified the Department of Children and Family Services (DCF) and the Manchester Police Department. The staff member was put on a leave of absence at the time of the allegations and remains out on leave as a result of the ongoing investigation.
"Incidents like these are unsettling and staff at Illing and throughout the district are always available to students who have concerns."
