Teen Shot By Police During Armed Encounter At Domestic Incident In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — A teen was shot by police during an armed domestic incident Sunday in Manchester, according to a MPD incident report.

The incident took place near the Parker Street and Charis Road intersection.

According to a preliminary investigation report, on Sunday at 10:58 p.m., Manchester Police Officers were dispatched to a
residence in response to reports of an active domestic disturbance.

According to the report, an 18-year-old male was involved in a domestic incident at the residence and the caller reported that the suspect was armed with a knife.

The first responding officer encountered the teen in the road and, during the encounter, the officer discharged a department-issued firearm and struck the man, according to the report.

Officers immediately rendered medical aid to the teen until emergency medical personnel arrived and he was subsequently transported to a trauma center for treatment according to the report.

The Connecticut State Police Central District Major Crime Squad responded and processed the scene.

Per state law, the Connecticut Office of the Inspector General has been notified has assumed responsibility for investigating the officer-involved shooting.

The condition of the teen was not immediately available.

A neighbor praised the home's owners, while adding it has had several renting tenants over the past several months.
