Town to Extend Landfill Hours Due to Irene
Cleaning up debris from the storm has led to longer hours at the town's landfill.

The town of Manchester will be extending the normal operating hours of the Landfill and Transfers Station for both commercial and residential users to allow for disposal of storm generated organic debris. The Landfill will be open from 7:15 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. on the following dates: Friday, September 2nd; Saturday, September 3rd; Tuesday, September 6th; Wednesday, September 7th; Thursday, September 8th; Friday, September 9th; Saturday, September 10th. Regular Landfill disposal services will be offered from 7:15 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Brush and Yard Waste area will remain open from 2:30 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. for commercial and residential users. The landfill will not be open this Monday, September 5th, due to the Labor Day Holiday. There will also be a one day delay in normal curbside collection services the entire week of September 5th due to Labor Day. Town of Manchester residents are reminded that Brush, Leaves, Grass, and other Yard Debris are being collected at the curb as part of the normal yard waste collection program, subject to the normal preparation guidelines: Bagged Yard Waste must not exceed 50 pounds per bag; Brush must be 4 feet or less in length; Brush must be bundled or twined; Brush must not exceed 4 inches in diameter; Bundles must not exceed 50 lbs.; All materials must be out by 6:00 a.m. to ensure collection.
