Tractor-Trailer, Car Get Tangled Up In Serious Highway Crash In Manchester

MANCHESTER, CT — Interstate 84 was closed for seven hours Thursday morning while authorities pieced together a crash between a car and tractor-trailer, state police said.

The crash occurred just before 4 a.m.

Preliminary information supplied by state police indicated that Troop H personnel responded to the eastbound side of I-84 in the area of exit 62 in Manchester.

Though some scanner reports were claiming a fatality, state police would say only that the crash involved "serious injuries."

Images from the scene showed a car lodged under a tractor-trailer.

A reconstruction team is actively investigating what happened.
