Tractor-Trailer, Pedestrian, Collide On Highway In Manchester
State police are investigating how a truck and pedestrian collided on a stretch of highway in Manchester.

MANCHESTER, CT — A section of Interstate 84 westbound in Manchester was closed Friday morning for what state Department of Transportation officials termed a vehicle versus pedestrian accident.
The incident took place just prior to 8 a.m., according to the DOT.
State police said preliminary information indicates that a tractor-trailer hit a pedestrian on I-84 near exit 59 in Manchester at 8:04 a.m. The section of highway features a sharp curve. The truck could be seen pulled to the shoulder with state police nearby.

The incident did involve injuries and the pedestrian was transported to an area hospital, state police said.
State police were still investigating the circumstances well into the morning hours.

The incident prompted the closure of the westbound side of the highway and state police were encouraging motorists to seek alternate routes. The scene was cleared by lunchtime.
