Traffic Light Falls Into Manchester Intersection

Police had to close a busy section of road in Manchester while a fallen traffic light was fixed.

MANCHESTER, CT – A section of Spencer Street was closed on Thursday after a traffic light fell into the road, police said.

The traffic light fell into the intersection with Hillstown Road at about 10 a.m., police said. Crews rushed to the scene to fix it, but the road had to be closed off fr the work, police said.

No injuries were reported and the traffic light did not hit any vehicles, police said.

The area is a busy stretch of road because of its close proximity to a highway interchange, retail traffic, Manchester Community College activities and cars heading between Manchester and East Hartford.
