Traffic Stop on I-384 in Manchester Leads to Gun Discovery

A man has been charged with firearms possession.

MANCHESTER, — A passenger in a speeding car was pinched for possessing a handgun after a Monday traffic stop on Interstate-384, state police said.

The incident was at 6:54 p.m., according to an arrest report.

The car was traveling at 90 mph and was pulled over near Exit 4 in the eastbound lanes. state police said.

Troopers then discovered that a passenger, Willimantic resident Monroe Gill, 58, had an outstanding failure to appear Warrant out of that town. In a subsequent search, troopers found a Beretta .25-cal. handgun in his shirt pocket, according to an arrest report.

The gun was loaded with eight rounds, according to an arrest report.

He was charged with weapons possession in a motor vehicle and carrying a pistol without a permit. He was held overnight on a $150,000 bond and was to appear in court Tuesday, state police said.
