Vets Need More Than Parades

Parades and ceremonies on Veterans Day are meaningful ways to thank our veterans, but after all the hoopla a real thank you would be: providing quicker access to services-1.2 million are waiting for benefits qualification; providing a home -⅓ of homeless are vets; or giving them a job -vet unemployment is twice the national average.

The Community Renewal Team from Hartford has stepped up to help by providing support services for vets and their families, case management including vocational training and job search help, a  Homeless Veteran Reintegration Program, and soon to come, an assisted living facility for Veterans.

These programs are described by CRT staff Gus Keach-Longo and Tina Ortiz on Manchester Review on Veterans Day at at 9 PM on Cox Channel 15. You can also view it on YouTube (Google: Veterans: Community Renewal Team Part I and Part II).

Veterans and their families can contact CRT at:  crtct.org for more information.
