Wanted Teen Arrested After Standoff At Manchester Home

A standoff between police and a Manchester teen wanted in a domestic violence case ended peacefully Wednesday.

MANCHESTER, CT — A Wednesday standoff between police and a Manchester teen wanted in a domestic violence case involving a pregnant person ended when officers talked him down from the attic of a local home.

Police said they received a tip at 3:51 p.m. that 18-year-old Daniel Amoboaleng Jr., who was wanted in a domestric violence case from the previous day, was inside a home on Elro Street. When officers arrived, three people exited the dwelling, confirmed Amoboaleng was inside, but said he would not come out, according to a report.

Police determined that he was barricaded in the attic of the home and suspected he might have a gun, according to a report.

The Capitol Region Emergency Response Team was called to the scene. Manchester police and CREST team members then negotiated with Amoboaleng and he came out peacefully, according to a report.

Police then served Amoboaleng a warrant charging him with first-degree kidnappping, secon-degree assault, second-degree assault on a pregnant person, disorderly conduct, violation of a protective order (two counts), third-degree assault (two counts), second-degree breach of peace, second-degree threatening, first-degree threatening, and first-degree criminal mischief, according to a report.

For the standoff, he was charged with interfering with police and two counts of violating a protective order, according to a report.

He was being held on a $250,000 bond Thursday morning and was to appear in court later in the day, police said.
