Wig-Wearing Suspect ID'd In Manchester Bank Robbery

The wig was an accessory to a dark sweatshirt and sweat pants ensemble worn at a bank robbery, Manchester cops said.

MANCHESTER, CT — A robber who wore a blonde wig to a Sept. 8 bank holdup in Manchester has been identified as a 34-year-old Vernon man, police said.

Frederick Johanson was picked up by police at about 7:30 a.m. Saturday on West Main Street in the Rockville section of Vernon, according to a report. He was charged with third-degree larceny and third-degree robbery after getting away with $3,500 at the Broad Street Stop & Shop branch of People's United Bank, according to a report.

According to a report, Johansen entered the supermarket, and approached the bank counter wearing a wig. He handed a note to a teller and took the money, according to a report.

The wig was an accessory to a dark sweatshirt and sweat pants ensemble with blue and white sneakers, according to a report. Surveillance footage shows him fleeing on foot in an easterly direction toward Broad Street.

Police said Johanson is currently being held on $100,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in court on Sept. 26.
