MANCHESTER, CT — The winter sports campaign is officially upon us as practice is scheduled to open Monday for high school wrestling, girls basketball and ice hockey teams throughout Connecticut. Indoor track, boys basketball, boys swimming and gymnastics all begin practice Thursday.

With players slated to take the court, ice and mat later this afternoon, dreams of a state championship berth in March are already formulating in the minds of athletes and coaches alike. The onset of the coronavirus pandemic in March 2020 brought a halt to state championship competition, and no state tournaments were conducted last winter.

Here is the state title history in winter sports for teams from Manchester, East Catholic and Cheney Tech high schools (* - indicates co-op team).
