The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hartford County.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hartford County, which begins 6 a.m. Sunday and runs until 7 a.m. Monday. This is a long period of potentially unsettled weather for the area.

The National Weather Service says: "Freezing rain and sleet Sunday changing to mainly light snow Sunday night. Total snow accumulations ranging from a coating to 2 inches along with ice accumulations of around one tenth of an inch expected.

"Greatest travel impacts will occur across elevations above 1000 ft where temperatures will be at or below freezing yielding slippery travel. "WHEN...From 6 AM Sunday to 7 AM EST Monday with most of the wintry precipitation occurring Sunday night."

"Wintry mix of freezing rain, sleet and / or snow is forecast early Sunday through Sunday night, transitioning to all snow going into early Monday. Light ice and snow accumulations are possible...

"With any wintry weather there will be travel hazards over the weekend with accumulation on area roadways as well as impacts to visibility. Hazardous conditions could potentially linger into the Monday morning commute....," the NWS says.
