The National Weather Service has just issued a Winter Weather Advisory for northern sections of Connecticut.

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Hartford, Tolland and Windham counties from 3 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday.

"A brief period of light snow...sleet and freezing rain. Total snow and sleet accumulations less than one inch and ice accumulations of a trace to less than one tenth of an inch expected.

* WHERE...Portions of northern Connecticut and just to the northwest of the Boston to providence corridor.

* WHEN...A light wintry mix overspreads the region between 3 and 6 am before changing to all rain by 9 or 10 am.

* ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Untreated roads will be slippery early Friday morning and an impact to the morning rush hour is expected."

A chance of sleet before 4am, then freezing rain between 4am and 5am, then rain or freezing rain after 5am. Low around 27. Calm wind becoming southeast around 5 mph after midnight. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Rain. Patchy fog. High near 50. South wind 7 to 9 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

A chance of rain before 10pm. Patchy fog before 8pm. Otherwise, cloudy, then gradually becoming partly cloudy, with a low around 45. Southwest wind around 7 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New precipitation amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.
