Elderly Woman Pulled from Bolton Lake Dies [UPDATE]
Bystanders reportedly jumped into the water to try and rescue her before emergency crews arrived.

UPDATE: An elderly woman pulled from Bolton Lake on Saturday has died, NBC Connecticut reported, citing police. She was identified as Virginia Bergstrom, 89, of Bolton.
BOLTON, CT — A woman who was seen swimming in Bolton Lake but did not resurface was pulled from the water by some bystanders late Saturday afternoon, according to multiple sources.
Fox 61 reported Tolland County Dispatch sent Connecticut State Police and the Bolton Fire Department to the lake at 5:47 p.m. for "a drowning."

An "elderly woman" who had been seen swimming in the lake was later reported "in distress," according to NBC Connecticut.
Bolton resident Jared Basilio was among those who jumped into the water and pulled the woman to shore before emergency responders took over and performed CPR, WFSB-TV reported.

The woman was transported to Manchester Memorial Hospital. Her name, age and condition are not known at this time.
