“Working Through Extensions with the Realtor”
Joe,
Thank you for the email update. It is going to be a tough sell for an extension because the sellers are also buying on the same contract date. What closing date are you looking for? Please let me know and I'll ask seller's agent. Thank you, Kathy
Having been in the real estate business for many years, I can understand.
Realtors have a fiduciary relationship with the seller and buyer and if
they are not given good information they will quickly lose credibility
with their clients.
We were all working with a closing date and I could see that it was not
going to happen. I notified the buyer and both agents, explained the
issue and that it would take a couple of days longer.
The listing agent could now explain the issue to the seller and feel
comfortable enough that I knew what I was talking about. A one week
extension was worked out even though a week wouldn’t be needed.
Most important in this process is good communication, without it bad things
can happen and there will end up being bad feelings with everyone
involved.
