3 Students From Storrs Named National Merit Semifinalists

STORRS, CT — Officials from the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) have announced the names of approximately 16,000 semifinalists in the 67th annual National Merit Scholarship Program. Included are three students from Storrs.

These academically talented high school seniors have an opportunity to continue in the competition for some 7,500 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $30 million that will be offered next spring.

The students from Storrs are Benjamin Peters, Leonard Schweitzer, and Guomin Xu, all of whom attend Edwin O. Smith High School.
