3 UConn Women Hoop Players On Naismith Trophy Watch List

STORRS, CT — Seniors Napheesa Collier and Katie Lou Samuelson and junior Crystal Dangerfield of the University of Connecticut women's basketball team were selected to the Women’s Citizen Naismith Trophy watch list.

The announcement was made by the Atlanta Tipoff Club Monday.

The watch list includes 50 candidates. The midseason 30 team will be announced on Feb. 11, 2019, and then the competition will be narrowed down to 10 national semifinalists on March 4, 2019.

The four finalists will be named on March 22, 2019, and the winner of the 2019 Citizen Naismith Trophy for Women’s Player of the Year will be announced on April 6, 2019.

UConn has the second-most candidates on this year’s watch list. The Huskies have previously won 10 Citizen Naismith Trophies, the most of any program.

Collier, Samuelson and Dangerfield were named to the Wooden Award watch list last week. The three are American Athletic Conference preseason first team selections.
