STORRS, CT — Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts on the UConn campus in Storrs will open its fall season Sept. 25 with multiple Grammy Award winner Pat Metheny and his new ensemble, Side-Eye III+, the venue announced. The performance is part of the group's international tour supporting its self-titled album released earlier this year.

The season will bring a mix of music, dance, film and family-focused performances to the university venue. Among the featured events are Rufus Wainwright's WANTED: Judy Garland concert, Hocus Pocus Live, ukulele performer Jake Shimabukuro, Coco in Concert Live to Film, Catapult: Magic Shadows, Rubberband Dance Group, Punch Brothers, and a holiday cabaret featuring the Boston Pops Esplanade Orchestra led by conductor Keith Lockhart.

The Lenard Chamber Music Series also is part of the fall lineup. That series will include performances by the Grammy-nominated British vocal ensemble VOCES8, Amsterdam-based Camerata RCO of the Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra, and the Callisto Quartet, which was recently named Bowers Program Artists-in-Residence at the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.

"This diverse season celebrates creativity in all its forms," said Rodney Rock, director of Jorgensen Center for the Performing Arts. "Audiences will experience breathtaking dance, unforgettable voices, family-friendly spectacles, the return of cherished holiday traditions, and extraordinary artists who continue to redefine the possibilities of live performance."

The announcement frames the season as one built around music, magic and imagination, with internationally known performers and live productions scheduled throughout the fall. The lineup includes concerts, dance presentations and attractions aimed at families, as well as the return of holiday programming.

Tickets are on sale now through the Jorgensen Center website at Jorgensen.UConn.edu, according to the announcement. Visitors also can use the site to view the full season, find venue information and learn about upcoming exhibitions in the Jorgensen Gallery.

No additional dates for the other fall performances were included in the announcement. The season begins Sept. 25 in Storrs with Metheny and Side-Eye III+ and continues with the slate of events listed by the center.
