• Mansfield Man Sentenced To 20 Years In Prison For Check-Kiting Scheme (patch.com) — A Mansfield resident has been sentenced to 20 years in prison, suspended after five, for leading a multi-year check-kiting scheme that defrauded Connecticut banks of more than $350,000. Prosecutors say he recruited dozens of vulnerable people statewide, directing them to open accounts and deposit bad checks while he withdrew the funds, leaving some recruits facing criminal charges themselves.
