STORRS, CT — The Mansfield Downtown Partnership is bringing back its free Gameday Shuttle service for UConn men's and women's basketball games, offering fans a ride between Downtown Storrs and the M&T Bank Center at Gampel Pavilion.
The shuttle, presented by Homefield, will be available for every regular-season men's and women's basketball game at Gampel Pavilion, beginning Nov. 8 and continuing through Feb. 28.
The option this season, because of ongoing construction near and at the arena, could prove to be more popular than ever.
Fans can park at the Downtown Storrs Parking Garage at 33 Royce Circle and board the shuttle at designated locations.
For men's games, pickup will be outside the Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center at 23 Royce Circle, adjacent to the garage. For women's games, pickup will be outside Homefield Connecticut at 1 Royce Circle.
The shuttle will begin operating approximately 60 minutes before tipoff and continue until about 60 minutes after the final buzzer.
The service is free and supported by Homefield, Haven Hot Chicken, Huskies Restaurant & Bar, LAZ and Gansett Wraps.
"We're excited to make the gameday experience easier, more convenient, and even more fun," said Steven Ferrigno, executive director of the Mansfield Downtown Partnership.
Ferrigno said fans can take advantage of Downtown Storrs' nearly 30 restaurants and visit Homefield Connecticut for UConn merchandise before heading to campus for games.
Parking at the Downtown Storrs garage is free for the first two hours and costs $1 per hour afterward, from 6 a.m. to midnight.
Fans also can use public transportation to reach Downtown Storrs. The Nash-Zimmer Transportation Center serves several regional bus routes, including CTtransit. The CTtransit 913 Hartford/Buckland/Storrs Express provides daily service between Hartford and Downtown Storrs.
