The Edwin O. Smith Foundation is pleased to announce the results of the 5th annual Teacher Grant Awards, with over $19,000 in Technology, Innovation and Supplemental Funding grants provided to teachers and staff at E. O. Smith High School. Nine teachers received grants ranging from $500 to $3,000 for projects as varied as an athletic trainer to breakfast items for Bike to School week participants. Several of the grants were awarded for technology (such as the development and implementation of a new on-line course in science), and several awards were supplemented by the Board of Education (particularly in areas of professional development concurrent to new technology purchases).
The Foundation also distributes several annual scholarships to graduating EOS seniors. At the annual senior awards night, the following scholarships and awards were announced:
- John Estes - James W. Allard Scholarship Award
- Nataliya Netchyporenko - Jack Cohen Science Prize
- Joel Accorsi - Herbert James Segar Scholarship Fund
- Brooke Totzeck – Veteran of Foreign Wars Scholarship
