Arrest Made In Connecticut SNAP Benefit Fraud Investigation
A Windham resident is facing two charges amid a fake state aid declaration investigation, prosecutors said.

WINDHAM, CT — A Windham woman has been arrested and charged with stealing from a program financed by the Connecticut Department of Social Services.
Hannah Sherman, 33, was arrested Tuesday by Inspectors from the Statewide Prosecution Bureau of the Office of the Chief State's Attorney and charged with first-degree larceny, and false statement in the second degree, according to the state Department of Justice.
According to an arrest warrant affidavit, Sherman received $2,102 in benefits from the state's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, commonly known as SNAP, that she was not entitled to receive. She took in the money from Aug to to November of last year, according to a warrant.

Sherman failed to report "total and accurate" earned household income during that time period and, once Sherman's correct income was factored into the calculation for SNAP benefits, Sherman;'s household was not eligible to receive SNAP benefits during that time period, according to a warrant.
Sherman was released on a court-set $500 non-surety bond and is scheduled to appear in Danielson Superior Court on Feb. 13.
