Banished Frat the Latest in a Long List of Those Sanctioned at UConn

Fraternity and sorority sanctions were announced this week.

STORRS, CT β€” The banning of the Kappa Sigma fraternity by University of Connecticut officials is no the first instance of a "Greek" organization being sanctioned.

It is just the most recent amid an investigation into the death of a UConn student after a raucous party.

The Kappa Sigma fraternity and Delta Gamma sorority are the organizations mentioned in the arrest warrant affidavit that cited six UConn students for alcohol-related charges stemming from an October party attended by Jeffny Pally before her death.

UConn offricials said,

"In most cases, fraternities or sororities are given an opportunity to reorganize on campus after several years if they follow prescribed steps, including regaining their national charter.

"However, the university determined in this case that Kappa Sigma will not have that opportunity, given that it has displayed β€œa pattern of behavior and organizational culture that has been dangerous to the members of the group as well as those associated with it”
