Birthplace of Connecticut's Official Hero Damaged, Burglarized
Coventry police are looking for a suspect in a burglary at the Nathan Hale Homestead.
COVENTRY, CT — The landmark birthplace of Connecticut's official state hero has been damaged and police have released a surveillance image of a suspect in the case.
On Aug. 3, Coventry police were notified of a burglary at the Nathan Hale Homestead. There was damage to the property and items were stolen, police said.
On Wednesday, police distributed a surveillance photo of the suspect.

Said police, "If you know the individual, please contact the Coventry Police Department at 860-742-7331. Thank you for your assistance."
The homestead is located at 2299 South St, in Coventry.

Nathan Hale (1755–1776) was a captain in the Continental Army during the American Revolutionary War. He volunteered for an intelligence-gathering mission in New York City, but was captured by British forces.
He was hanged as a spy on Sept. 22, 1776.
Hale was officially recognized at the state hero on Oct. 1, 1985.
