Update: Body Found in Mansfield Hollow State Park

Update - June 29, 7:30 p.m.:

Connecticut State Police on Friday identified the body found Tuesday in Mansfield Hollow State Park as William G. Murphy.

A preliminary investigation showed Murphy had taken his own life, according to an article published in the Journal Inquirer on June 28.

State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance confirmed Friday that there was “no criminal aspect” to the case.

Update - June 27, 12 p.m.:

Authorities are continuing their investigation into the body recovered Tuesday at Mansfield Hollow State Park, but police said Wednesday the park is safe.

Sgt. Richard Cournoyer, of the Mansfield Resident State Trooper’s Office, said the case does not present a threat to citizens at this time, and that there "appeared to be no suspicious or criminal activity" found at the scene at the time of the incident.

A body was found Tuesday morning in the area of Mansfield Hollow State Park, authorities said.

Connecticut State Police spokesman Lt. J. Paul Vance confirmed that police are investigating an "untimely death." Police have not released the identity of the person found.

The incident is currently under investigation.
