Bolton Man In Custody On High Bond In Coventry Home Invasion

COVENTRY, CT — A Bolton man is facing both home invasion and assault charges after an altercation and stabbing in Coventry, police said.

Shortly after midnight on Friday, Coventry officers responded to a disturbance at an address on South Street and discovered a man with a knife wound lying on the ground near the edge of the road, according to an incident report. The disturbance started at a nearby residence and involved two men and a woman, police said.

The man who was eventually charged entered the residence and things turned physical and eventually led to a knife attack, according to an incident report.

The aggressor fled the scene but later surrendered to police, according to an incident report. He was later identified as Daniel Chagnot, 48, of Bolton. He was charged with home invasion, first-degree assault, disorderly conduct and second-degree criminal mischief.

Chagnot was arraigned on court Friday and his initial $50,000 bond was was raised to $250,000. He remained in custody Monday and is due for a second court appearance on Nov. 6, according to judicial system records.

Police did not disclose the nature of the stab wounds.
