Our exhibit commemorating the 250TH Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence. Located in the Old Town Hall. Curated by Joseph Mumley, Ann Galonska, and Jon Crane.
Explore Mansfield's 18th century history as an agricultural community and its active participation in the American Revolution. This exhibit follows the town's response to the Lexington Alarm, the men serving on the frontlines of Bunker Hill and the New York campaigns, and the home front community that supplied and fed the soldiers, their families, and the fight for independence.
Mid-Century Modern Architecture in Mansfield, 1945-1975 - Old Town Office
Curated by Bruce & Donna Clouette.
In the 30 years following the end of World War II, a new style of architecture captured the imagination of Americans ready for a future that looked forward to better times. Then usually called “Contemporary,” the style today is known as Mid-Century Modern.
This exhibit presents some of the notable Mid-Century Modern buildings that give a distinctive character to Mansfield’s built environment, with special attention given to Techbuilt houses, one of the period’s most successful partly prefabricated designs, and to the houses designed by Robert Carroll May, a gifted architect who for three years had worked for Frank Lloyd Wright.
