Turn old book pages into your own literary masterpieces! Grab a marker, black out existing text, and let your own hidden, beautiful poems emerge from the page. We also will explore some other creative ways to integrate art and visual design into our poetry.
NO EXPERIENCE NEEDED. ALL MATERIALS PROVIDED.
This workshop is presented as part of Word & Image, an exhibition exploring the intersection of verbal and visual expression across millennia of history. Pulling from the permanent art collection of Eastern and the archives of the J. Eugene Smith Library, the exhibit brings together a diverse range of objects, from sacred Egyptian artifacts to medieval manuscripts, the satirical pages of The New Yorker, the bold graphics of independent cinema, and mixed-media explorations of contemporary art. Word & Image runs July 7-August 6, 2026.
