Campus Notes - Mansfield College Students

MANSFIELD, CT — Here are some recent notable accomplishments by local college students, as provided by readMedia Newswire.

Bryant University, Smithfield RI

• Bryant University is committed to the pursuit, recognition, and celebration of academic success, and congratulates John Nollet, class of 2019, from Storrs, who has been named to the university's Dean's List for the fall 2018 semester.

Eastern Connecticut State University, Willimantic CT

• Eastern's rendition of "Pluto" took center stage at the Kennedy Center American College Theater Festival (KCACTF) earlier this month. "Pluto" was one of only three productions featured at the Region 1 festival, which includes colleges and universities from all over New England and New York, including New York City. The festival occurred from Jan. 29-Feb. 2 at Cape Cod Community College and included an awards portion and theatre workshops. Among the students was Harold Gagne of Storrs, who majors in Theatre and English. Gagne was a nominee for the Irene Ryan Acting Award and performed a scene from "Pluto."

Worcester Polytechnic Institute, Worcester MA

• Sophomore Malek Elshakhs of Mansfield was one of 15 WPI men's track & field student-athletes to have earned All-New England honors this past weekend. Sophomore Oliver Thomas' 8.08 in the 60-meter hurdles serves as a new school record and the third-ranked time on the NCAA Division III performance list. He was followed by Elshakhs with an eighth-place 8.75.
