MANSFIELD, CT – Construction crews will begin replacing about 3,200 feet of a 60-year-old water main on Old Colony Road and Stafford Road near the Route 44 intersection after pausing work to prioritize worker safety due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Crews will be working on the project from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday, except for holidays.

Drivers are advised that lanes may be closed on Stafford Road and traffic patterns may change due to construction.

"This project will improve reliability of water service, enhance water quality and supply more water to hydrants along the road," said Craig J. Patla, Connecticut Water's vice president, in a prepared statement.

Construction crews have adopted extra safety precautions in order to adhere to safety guidelines in place due to the coronavirus outbreak. Precautions include appropriate personal protective equipment while they flush hydrants, collect water samples, work on drinking water infrastructure and read meters.
