Coventry Man Accused Of Pointing Gun At Child: Police

Police in Coventry said they arrested a man accused of pointing a loaded gun at a child over the weekend.

COVENTRY, CT — A gun incident involving a child in Coventry over the weekend left as local man with charges, police said.

On Saturday, Coventry police arrested John Barile Jr., 44, of Coventry, after they received a report that he pointed a gun at a juvenile.

Witnesses told police they had seen Barile handling a pistol and pointing it at a 9-year-old, according to an incident report.

When officers arrived, Barile became uncooperative and argumentative, but was eventually taken into custody, according to an incident report.

The handgun in question was found in his motorcycle saddlebag, loaded, according to an incident report.

Barile was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, risk of injury to a minor, disorderly conduct and interfering with police.

He posted a $25,000 bond and was to appear Monday in Rockville Superior Court, according to police.
