Driver Leaves Mansfield Crash Scene With Car Perched On Fence

The crash took place early Sunday morning, state police said.

MANSFIELD, CT β€” A 25-year-old from Norwalk is facing an evading responsibility charge after crashing his car on Charles Smith Way in Mansfield Sunday and leaving it perched on a fence, state police said.

The crash took place at 6:52 a.m., according to a state police report.

State police found the 2018 Nissan Sentra's front left tire caught on a 3-foot-tall fence with the driver nowhere to be found.

He was eventually tracked down and arrested.

According to a crash report, the man lost control of the car, hit a fence post and the car then became stuck on the fence. The force of the collision caused the airbag to deploy, according to a crash report.
