E.O. Smith Boys Open Basketball Tournament at Home

STORRS, CT — Brackets for the CIAC boys basketball tournaments were released Wednesday morning, and E.O. Smith High School will be opening competition in front of the home crowd.

The Panthers (10-10) are the No. 16 seed in Division III, and will host a first-round game against No. 17 Cheney Tech (10-10) March 5 at 7 p.m.

Other first-round matchups in Division III for teams from Patch towns in Hartford and Tolland counties include:

• No. 3 Prince Tech (18-2), bye
• No. 5 Enfield (17-3), bye
• No. 26 Berlin (8-12) at No. 7 Southington (14-6)
• No. 24 Wolcott (8-12) at No. 9 Avon (12-8)
• No. 20 Conard (9-11) at No. 13 Bunnell (11-9)
• No. 18 Killingly (9-11) at No. 15 Farmington (10-10)
